I'm so proud. That's super depressing fact that acing such a trivial set of softball science questions makes one in the top 90%. I don't think I believe that.
So my question is this: Were the people in the study given the same multiple choice questions? Because I can't always pull the right answer out when I want to. It's a lot easier to recall the correct answer with multiple choice.
The page has "...see how you did in comparison with the 1,005 randomly sampled adults asked the same questions."
And your observation, "It's a lot easier to recall the correct answer with multiple choice," makes the results sadder still.
I'm just happy to be in the top 10% of SOMETHING.
