Hank Greer said...: I did some research and "BM" stands for "bench mark". This is a survey marker. I don't know that it's one posted by the US Geological Survey because the fine for disturbing their markers was $250 in 1896 and the USGS markers tend to have "US Geological Survey" on them.; January 28, 2010 at 10:21 PM
