From The Raw Story:
Tea party-backed Representatives Michele Bachmann (R-MN), Louie Gohmert (R-TX) and Steve King (R-IA) on Saturday held a press conference in Egypt to thank the country’s military for overthrowing the elected government, and at one point even seemed to suggest that the Muslim Brotherhood had been behind the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks in the United States.
“Together, we’ve gone through suffering. Together, the United States and Egypt, have dealt with the same enemy,” Bachmann explained. “It’s a common enemy, and it’s an enemy called terrorism.”
...
During Saturday’s press conference, Gohmert praised Egyptian coup-leader General Abdel Fatah el-Sissi by comparing him to U.S. President George Washington.
“We met with for a long meeting General el-Sissi and many of the military leaders, and my friend Steve King mentioned again about our heritage in America,” he explained. “George Washington, doing what no one had ever done before him, led a military in revolution, won the revolution, and then resigned and went home.”
“And we met, in General el-Sissi, a man who is leader of the military, who might have a shot at being elected president, but is more concerned about giving his life to help his country, Egypt,” Gohmert said.
I think there's a difference between the two generals. I don't remember George Washington killing hundreds of people who protested after he won the revolution.

It's hard to imagine what Egypt is going through.
They had a corrupt oppressive regime that used surveillance, violence and the threat of torture to silence the people.
Then a reformer got elected by promising to end the surveillance, violence and punish the torturers and the corrupt. He would institute meaningful change that Egyptians could believe in.
But, once in power, he expanded surveillance to include all citizen communication. He used state violence to silence those who disagreed, and he rewarded corruption while violating the constitution to consolidate his power. His courtiers began to talk about his "right" to rule. A junta of generals asserted their power.
It's hard to imagine what Egypt is going through, because it could never happen here.
Despte all the depressing NSA revelations about Obama and Clapper's war against the American people, today's revelationstill manages to shock: they've been handing our most private conversations and data to the Israeli government.

Worse than Egypt. I don't imagine Morsi was sending Egyptians personal info to the Mossad. Obama has no such scruples.
Representatives, please impeach the President I voted for. Senators, please prosecute. Get this krazy klown into the jail cell he so richly deserves.
2009.
So, Obama was a Mossad asset all along.
The rightwing crazies were right--the President was a Manchurian Candidate. But not for al Quaeda--for the Mossad.
Half a day since the Guardian broke the NSA-Guardian story, and zero coverage in the major US media.
It's like China, if not Egypt. Nearly total blackout.
A day later: WaPo mentions Obama's illegal program to give Americans private data to the Mossad--in a business blog post.
New York Times? Silence. Not even a columnist. Apparently Obama has Dowd "on a leash," as she likes to say.
"While most Americans shudder at the news that 400 children have been killed by a monster, they recoil at the Middle East now; they’ve had it with Shiites vs. Sunnis, with Alawites and all the ancient hatreds."
Well, yes, but notice the country left out of Dowd's ancient hatred party list.
Americans may be tired of war in the Middle East, but that doesn't mean they want the Mossad listening to their phone calls or reading their emails. Remember, Israel is a country that calls humanitarian aid to Palestinian children "terrorism." Any American who hasn't paid dues to AIPAC is al Qaeda to them.
But no worries, they'll delete official communications. Yeah, right.
Regional papers actually outperform the paper of record on reporting the major story of the day. And the Times wonders why its losing market share.
Thank God for the Guardian--the only remaining "American" news source.
I think it would be fairer to see that AIPAC has Obama and Dowd on a short leash. This isn't the only disappeared story: the intel on the Syrian gas massacre originally came from Israel as well. AIPAC has been heavily lobbying for the war, with a new-found concern for the lives of Arab children.
I don't think we really know the full story of the origins of this gas attack, though I assume it happened and I would assume a Syrian at some government level pulled the pin or whatever you pull.
You know the world has gone kuh-razy when Vladimir Putin is the voice of reason.
No hope for fresh analysis from Spokane native (and reliable Obama sycophant) Tim Egan either. Just a repeat of the Bachmann of Arabia story and the standard Democratic line for NY Times readers. No mention of the NSA-Mossad connection, though the Seattle Times carried the wire story. Egan is "appalled" by the constitutional role of Congress to declare war and sign off on foreign treaties. Meanwhile, the American public's view of Congress improved after Congress resisted another illegal war by Obama.
Egan is supposed to be a fresh voice from the west coast, but his copy might as well be written by a K street AIPAC flak.
What a sweet job to be a Times columnist--big bucks and no original thought required.
