My kids have no idea what it means to adjust the vertical hold nor do they know the meaning of "Don't touch that dial!"
In cycling all colors are gender neutral.
Speaking of colors, I bet you can't remember the last time you heard the color-coded security advisory system. That's because it was replaced.
When using a phone these days, do children wonder why it's called "dialing"?

Just think, your kids have never lived in a representative democracy.
As I recall, I WAS the vertical and horizontal hold adjuster in out family, I was a whiz a those dials in the back of the television. I wonder what kids would think today if they observed their fathers randomly walking over to the TV and nailing it on the side with an open fist to "adjust" the picture? Or was that just my father?
And I was the remote, too. Hank, put it on channel 4." :-)
